Talking with Strangers | Online Communities and IRL
This meeting will be focused on online communities as spaces where we learn, meet new people, and contribute with our insights, skills, and time. More specifically, we will talk about how online communities helped us during our time spent indoors, and if we met new friends over Zoom calls, in Slack channels, or inside the community forums.
For the topic "talking with strangers" we will compare our online and offline experiences and what we learned from them. Gladwell s book "Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know about the People We Don t Know" explores the biases we have when talking with an "unknown other" and it is a recommended read.
The attendee limit will be for maximum 4 people, including myself. Please only book a place if you are sure that you can join us.
