The Notwist (DE)
20:00 - 23:59
There aren’t many bands that combine catchy indie riffs and highly-charged experimental electronic sounds quite as well as they do. In the late 1980s, mixed with a healthy dose of punk-rock flavour, The Notwist stepped out of their Bavarian rehearsal room looking to conquer the world with their unique sound. Over the years and albums, the guitars have mellowed, the undertone is more melancholic and the beats have taken on a more experimental character. In the meantime, their songs and recordings are laced with an electronic vibe, the arrangements enriched with a splash of kraut, free jazz, hip-hop and house, while at the other end of the composition Markus Acher’s distinctive vocals meander somewhere between fragility and protest. The band’s latest release, a live album on Sub Pop and The Notwists’ very own Alien Transistor label entitled «Superheroes, Ghostvillains & Stuff», is basically a 90-minute manifesto that comes on triple vinyl. The versatile sound of the tracks, somewhere between rock show and rave, gives you a darn good taste of what to expect at this evening’s show in the Reithalle.
